2024 - COMPETITION

The fourth "MILANO SAKE CHALLENGE" was held on June 10th and 11th, 2024 at Hotel NHOW in Milan.

On the first day, sake tasting and design session were conducted. On the second day, food pairing session was conducted for a total of 200 sake brands, 40 of which were selected for each Italian dish and dessert in the sake tasting session.

A total of 200 judges participated: 100 for the sake tasting, 50 for the design, and 50 for the food pairing session.

SAKE TASTING JUDGES

Sake tasting judges have been trained before the challenge. Everybody took part to a session of alignment, where they learned which are the guidelines of judgement and how to use the app for the competition.

"Parmigiano Reggiano Cheese Consortium"

The Parmigiano-Reggiano Cheese Association, which was the food pairing partner for the 2023 competition, continued to be a partner for the 2024 competition, which was attended by five judges. The 24-month aged cheese, which has a deep and rich flavor, was judged on its compatibility with sake.

2024 FOOD PAIRING PARTNER

"Prosciutto di San Daniele Consortium"

Ten judges from the Prosciutto di San Daniele Consortium, the food pairing partner for this event, participated in the session. Three different parts of prosciutto, stinco (shank), centro (middle), and punta (tip), were prepared and judged for compatibility with the sake entries. The judges tasted each prosciuttos, which has a different taste and flavor, to select the best match for the sake.
